Small changes in behavior can create big changes in your life. Small changes are easier to implement than big life overhauls. Here are ten tweaks you can make that can add up to impactful changes.
1. Have green tea in the morning instead of coffee.
While green tea does have some caffeine, it has significantly less than coffee. Green tea also has antioxidants and excellent anti-inflammatory benefits.
2. Get a new pillow.
Is your pillow broken? A broken pillow is one that you can fold and it stays folded. If this is the case, it’s time for it to go! You need to have a pillow that is the proper firmness and gives you good neck support. Find a pillow that’s comfortable and keeps your spine in alignment.
3. Wake up 10 minutes earlier.
A rushed morning creates a stressed morning. Instead of rushing in the morning, try getting up 10 minutes earlier. Go through your morning routine a little more leisurely or spend time relaxing.
4. Stretch in the morning.
Stretching has many benefits. We tend to lose flexibility and mobility as we age. A short stretching session will get the blood flowing and warm up your body for the day ahead.
5. Have a healthy shake for breakfast.
Most quick breakfasts are anything but healthy. A quick protein shake with fruit and other healthy ingredients is a wonderful way to start the day.
6. Tell someone that you love them.
Few words have as much impact as “I love you.”
7. Keep a journal.
A journal not only helps you get ideas out of your head and onto paper, but it can be very enlightening to reflect on your journal and see how you have been living your life. If you see that you’re stuck in a rut, find something creative to do that will be exciting to read about later.
8. Sit and stand up straight. Good posture improves your breathing and reduces achy muscles at the end of the day. It also gives you an air of confidence and authority.
9. Take a walk during lunch.
Break away from the computer or skip the lengthy lunch outing and take a walk instead. You can eat before or after your walk.
10. Stand up at work.
We spend so much time sitting during the day that it’s no wonder we gain weight as we get older. There are special desks made at the proper height for standing. If it’s hard to be on your feet for too long, stand only for certain intervals of time. This is especially good for that afternoon slump.
